Vibeke Sjøvoll is one of seven photographers whose work is presented on the portal Norway - the official site. The photographs have been selected by Preus Museum, Norway's national photography museum. Fragments of a total of 40 photographs are shown in the top field of the portal. If you click on these pictures you will get up information on the photographer and his or her photographs that are shown elsewhere on the portal. Biography:
Vibeke Sjøvoll was born in Lofoten in Northern Norway in 1972, and now lives in Oslo. She studied for four years at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo, and was awarded a Masters degree in Fine Art from the Glasgow School of Art in 1999.
Vibeke Sjøvoll says the following about her art:
“In my work I reflect on the ways landscapes and people can be represented. I examine landscapes – magnificent natural surroundings in which people are going about their daily lives. I both arrange situations for the camera and photograph situations as I find them. I like to work on impulse as I come across poetic situations. Many of my works have a humorous or ambivalent quality.”

The first four photographs were taken on the coastal express steamer Nordlys between Bodø and Svolvær, and are part of a series taken from various ferry and boat journeys in Northern Norway.

The two last photographs were taken at Sinsen, in Oslo, in 2003
